First on-sun experiment with the CSP2 pilot at the CNRS solar facility

The CSP2 pilot solar receiver was successfully commissioned by the common COMESSA-CNRS team between July 16th and 20th 2014. The first on-sun experiment was performed by the CNRS team at the focus of the CNRS 1-MW solar furnace on July 22th. The solar loop was operated for more than 1 hour at 75 kW solar power and with 1 ton/h solid circulation flow rate. The solar receiver is composed of 16 1-m long vertical tubes in which the dense particle suspension circulates vertically upward.
